Ali Dayı, who lives in Kayseri’s Hörmetçi Village, is someone we came to know thanks to Nuri Çorbacıoğlu, a Cappadocia based photographer. Earning his living with his herd of approximately 300 horses, Ali Dayı provides us, photographers, with some very interesting and productive photographic opportunities.
This is a photo I selected from a study we conducted in April 2016 in Kayseri and the surrounding area, where we also organized photo trips in four different seasons to capture images with different atmospheres.
This photo was taken using the horizontality of the evening light, lengthening shadows, and the softening colors of the same light. Using a telephoto lens, I aimed to further “compress” the image through the “perspective stacking” effect and fill the frame with horses. Furthermore, I used a negative (-) exposure to create stronger shadows, and by selecting the Cloudy setting in the White Balance, I achieved warmer tones in the JPEG files.
